During medieval times, the industry began to develop, reaching its peak during the 19th century, mainly based on the transformation of flours, oils and preserves, the latter being the one that makes it known worldwide for its quince meat production. During the last third of the 19th century, and promoted by the foundation of companies such as La Aurora, La Casualidad, La Alianza, Nueva España or the Industrial Complex of El Carmen, is when this great expansion occurs. Along this route we offer you to return to the past and delve into the buildings that make up the Puente Genil Industrial Heritage and that contributed to its industrial development, ending with a lunch or dinner at the El Carmen Hotel. The hotel in the “The Railway Station” neighborhood and was part of the “El Carmen” complex at the beginning of the 20th century. This set of facilities produced olive oils and refined olive or pomace oils, soaps, flours, pasta and bread. The flour factory «El Carmen»began operating in 1905.
