Services: History, wine, gastronomy Puente Genil has an interesting historical heritage, especially of a religious nature, most of it built during the 17th and 18th centuries. Although perhaps the most significant of the works, due to its symbolism, is the bridge over the Genil River. Its first construction as a stone bridge dates from 1561. It was built by Hernán Ruiz II to replace the old wooden pontoon. The two twin arches were a later work, carried out in 1703. And the original flown brick arch was the work of the French architect Leopoldo Lemoniez in 1874. The sixteenth century will be the period in which the entire old town of the Villa is configured. The Churches show us in a wide range all the architectural and artistic eras, and some of the houses of the town themselves bring together very valuable details for the historical heritage. Among them, there is one designed by the architect Aníbal González, also the author of the Plaza de España, an indisputable monument of Seville’s historical heritage. After visiting the Historical Heritage, we propose a visit to the El Pujío Winery. The land of Puente Genil has been dedicated to the cultivation of vineyards for centuries. The typology of the soil and the climate make the environment a favorable place for growing grapes and making wine. The wines of the Bodega El Pujío, come mainly from two vineyards, located in the Cordoba towns of Puente Genil and Aguilar de la Frontera: La Pimienta and El Pujío. Bodega El Pujío was born from the passion of its founder, Agustín Reina Galán, for the world of wine. This led him to undertake this project to which his daughter, Rocío Reina Medina, a winemaker and passionate about her work, has joined. The human team, made up of family members and a team of highly qualified technicians, and the quality of its wines, have made Bodegas El Pujío win prizes such as the “Great Gold” in Vinoro or the “Great Gold” at Monovino 2016. On this route, we propose a tour of the plantation and the facilities of the winery, where they will explain the entire process of making and aging the wine. Then we offer you a tasting of 3 wines with paired tapas To end our tour of the historical heritage of Puente Genil, we propose a lunch in the heart of Rivera del Genil, overlooking the famous bridge and enjoying the light and weather for which it knows us. The restaurant also has lounges in case the weather is unaccompanied, which rarely happens. If you want to make the reservation online, click here.
